The time has come again – we’ve hit the pool once or twice, barbecued sufficiently and purchased fireworks. But we’re not done yet! Now we get to do those things all over again for the first and oldest American holiday, Independence Day.

Check out Wichita on the Cheap — this website is loaded with information about free events, discounted items, restaurant specials and more just for Wichita.
They recently posted some great events for the Fourth of July (click on the links to read more):
Red, White and You Blood Drive at Sedgwick County Zoo – free zoo admission when you donate blood on July 4 & 5
Free pass to All-Star Wichita for the active and retired military – family members will receive a $5 discount for the pass as well on July 4
Bradley Fair Jazz and Fireworks – a free outdoor jazz concert at 7:30 pm with fireworks beginning at 9:30 pm on July 4
There are also activities happening in Augusta, Haysville, Derby, Goddard, and Park City all day.
If you’re planning on staying home and shooting off fireworks for the 4th, just make sure to practice safety and precaution. The Wichita Fire Department wants to remind residents to stay safe. With the hot and windy weather, as well as the leftover storm debris, the added danger of fire can occur. Read these tips here.
